Snowpack Observations

Details

Firm and smooth, chalky, windboard. A lot of rime ice on exposed rocks. Climb and ski early to avoid falling rime ice. Sugary snow below top wind slab and crust, but unable to produce any instability, shooting cracks, progagation. Below Lake Helen, variable, funky ski conditions. Good climbing conditions but solid crampon and ice axe skills are mandatory.
