Conditions in the Old Ski Bowl after yesterday's wet storm:
A wide spread, breakable rain crust exists up to at least 9,000 ft on Mount Shasta. No snow was seen being transported anywhere even in moderate west/northwest winds. No signs of wind slabs or other avalanche danger were seen. Overall, the snowpack seems locked up tight. Generally the snowpack supports the weight of a snowmobile, but its depth is still thin in places above treeline and many icy rocks are exposed. Cliff bands up high are caked with rime.
