Hotlum / Wintun

So, you still want to ski? Well.... it is possible but conditions are not great. Continuous skinning is possible from 8,800 feet, sun cups the size of dinner plates, very sharp and very bumpy.  Water is flowing around the mesa / 10,000 foot camp, and at the base of the Hotlum snowfield around 11,000 feet. Water ice will be encountered on the Hotlum snowfield around 11,000 to 12,000 feet on the climbers left side of route. On the upper Wintun, one will find more water ice and breaks in snow coverage. Skiing is still possible for sure, but it is not great conditions.
