Details

Castle Lake area hosts 12 - 29 inches of snow, 0.5 - 3 inches of soft wet snow atop a firm underlayer. Rocks and chaparral are poking through in numerous places, though skiing is possible for the non-discriminating skier. Ice on lake is frozen and supportable, though weak along the edges of the shore. Snowshoes, skis, or boots are recommended for travel on snow.
