Skiing is still possible in the Castle zone. Middle Peak offers the only real viable terrain. The south face of Right Peak is mostly melted out. Other aspects of Right Peak are holding. Castle Lake is frozen and supportable to human weight. Be careful near the edges.
Snow flurries began about 1400 hours yesterday. On again, off again snow showers peppered the west side of I-5 for the afternoon. Approximately 2-4 inches fell through this morning (3.5.22). In general, the NW to SE flow of the storm delivered an inch or two more snow west of the interstate and on the north side of Mount Shasta.
Snow surfaces are variable at best, but the new snow will help smooth things out a bit. Gullies may have collected a bit more snow and ski decently. There is a good chance you'll still feel the old, crusty snow below. North winds will move snow around today and into the weekend.
