Snowpack Observations

Details

General conditions observed at Castle Lake:

  • Lake is fully frozen 
  • Rain runnels remain throughout the area
  • Snow surface is dominated by melt freeze forms
  • Soft corn snow can be found on sunny aspects
  • Ski pen 2-4 inches (5-10 cm) at 1 pm
  • Many cornice failures have occurred along the Middle Peak ridgeline
  • No signs of instability

Weather Observations

Details

It was a warm sunny day today at Castle Lake. A light breeze out of the southwest was felt on the top of the ridge. No wind was felt at lake level. Skies were clear and blue.
