Details
- No recent avalanches observed
- Blowing snow visible above 9k – primarily loading easterly aspects
- Drifts of snow 2-4 ft deep
- Roller balls on steep south facing slopes up to 9k
- Height of storm snow ranged from 40-70cm
- Height of snow ranged from 120cm-200cm+ between 7,000-9,000 ft on the south side of Mount Shasta
- Small wind lips and cornices along ridgelines
- New snow is bonded well to itself and the old snow surface
- Compression tests produced resistant planar factures within the storm snow and at the old/new interface. Extended column tests produced fractures on the old/new interface but no propagation (ECTN 25 down 60cm x2)
