Snowpack Observations

Details

Snow survey course just northeast of Deadfall Lake. Average snow depth: 28.5"
Lake is frozen but looks opaque and soft.
Firm, supportable snow in the AM hours, soft and mushy by the afternoon.
Steady wind out of the W/NW all day above treeline. Gusty near treeline and light below treeline.
Small streams flowing, tree wells showing.
Corn skiing can be found, but poor overnight re-freeze providing for soft conditions.
North facing slopes still held wind packed, dry snow with minimal sastrugi features. Some dry blowing snow was observed off the top of Mt Eddy, but no wind loading was taking place.
Snow is melting fast!
